Love Her Look: Kate Beckinsale

The always classy and beautiful Kate Beckinsale looks postively glowing in this picture. Her all-over shimmery makeup proves that you can wear shimmer on more than one feature!

To get Kate's red carpet worthy look, begin with a satin-finish foundation, like Bobbi Brown Moisturizing Cream Compact Foundation. Use minimal powder in the t-zone only, so as not to hamper the foundation's dewy effect.

For the eyes, begin by lining the upper and lower lash lines and the waterline using a rich brown powder liner for a soft look. Try Bare Minerals Liner Shadow in Coffee Bean. Give the upper eyelids a sheer wash of color using a grey-brown shimmering shadow, like TheBalm Overshadow in If You're Rich, I'm Single. Trace this same shade beneath the lower lashes, over top of the brown liner. Sweep a golden white shimmer shadow, like Benefit Show Offs in Miss Moon
beneath the brows to brighten the eyes. Coat the upper and lower lashes with your favorite black mascara.

Set cheeks aglow with Shiseido The Makeup Accentuating Powder Blush in Soft Orange, or a similar sunny peach blush. Dust a shimmering highlighting power on the cheekbones. Guerlain Meteorites Powder For The Face in Beige Chic is fit for a star.

Add a dab of sparkling peach gloss like Clinique Glosswear For Lips Sheer Shimmers in Sunset to the lips and that's it!

Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Light Breeze

Take one whiff of Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Light Breeze, and you'll be imagining yourself sitting in a crisp white dress, sipping a mimosa and laughing at a leisurely weekend brunch.

This sparkling citrus floral smells fresh, bright and sophisticated. The notes unfold gradually on the skin, leaving a scent that endures. Light yet complex, Light Breeze would be at home in a conservative office or on a casual weekend spent outdoors.

The top notes consist of Darjeeling Tea, Bergamot, Orange Zest, White Grapefruit and Watery Kumquat. Middle notes of Yellow Freesia, Osmanthus, Linden Flowers and Rose further develop the top notes. Base notes of Teak Wood, Cedarwood, Soft Skin Accord and Acacia Honey finish the fragrance beautifully.

MAX Factor Pan-Stik Ultra-Creamy Makeup

Everyone knows Max Factor is responsible for dolling up the unforgettable faces of the original silver screen stars, but did you know that Max Factor actually coined the term "makeup"?

This flashy resume got me psyched to try MAX Factor Pan-Stik Ultra-Creamy Makeup. (The original formula debuted in 1948!) I wanted to love this stick foundation, but it wasn't in the cards.

First, the good: it glides on super smooth, blends evenly and covers like a dream. The full-coverage formula can easily be sheered out with a sponge for a lighter look. With a finish that looks more matte than dewy, it's a rarity in the foundation-stick world. Lastly, the convenience of a stick means foundation gets applied in two seconds, lickety split.

Now for the deal-breaker: you can kiss any hopes of long-wear goodbye. Although this foundation looks pristine for the first two hours, shortly thereafter it begins to break down and visibly "pull apart" on the face. Even when set with powder, by the end of the day it just looks like a hot mess.

While I might throw this on for a quick errand or a short evening out, this isn't going to be my new staple foundation.

Neutrogena Illuminating Foamy Cream Cleanser

When I saw the ad for Neutrogena Illuminating Foamy Cream Cleanser, I trekked to three different CVS's before I found it in stock. "Illuminating," "foamy" and "cream" have got to be three of my favorite words, and it sounded like cleanser heaven.

Fortified with minerals like Zinc, Copper and Magnesium and extracts from Sugar, Lemon and Orange, this oil-free cleanser softens and brightens the skin. A low concentration of microbeads work to gently polish the skin.

While I wouldn't go so far as to say my face looks illuminated after a wash, it is soft, clean and smooth. The luxurious white cleanser looks just like melted marshmallows and lathers richly to gently dissolve makeup and oil.

Urban Decay Big Fatty Lip Plumper

For all those Urban Decay die-hard fans out there, I'm sorry. I've always steered clear of the line because of its cheapo packaging. And when I received a deluxe sample of Big Fatty Lip Plumper from Sephora (seriously the size of DuWop's Lip Venom), I could see why they had to give the stuff away.

This lip plumper works like most other plumpers on the market--by burning the hell out of your lips. I'm not sure whoever thought coating lips with African Chile would be a good idea, but it's not.

Sure, it pumps up lips and the golden shimmer is pretty, but once the pain subsides, so does the glossy, plump effect of this thin and virulent gloss.

And forget about laying a smooch on anyone, because the only reason a kiss should be burning is from passion--or you've just shared some incredibly spicy Thai food.

J.R. Watkins Apothecary Lemon Cream Shea Butter Hand Repair Moisturizer

I've got one serious sweet tooth--I'm talking grocery store style sheet cake coated with a two-inch barrier of icing, topped with gobs of frosting-fashioned roses. Yup. One whiff of J.R. Watkins Apothecary Lemon Cream Shea Butter Hand Repair Moisturizer and you'll understand why it's a dream-come-true for a frosting fiend like me.

The lemon scent smells more like something home-baked than factory-made, and is reason enough to use this product. It could fail to deliver one iota of moisture, and I'd probably still use it.

But deliver it does. The ultra-rich Shea and Cocoa butter formula softens hands beyond belief. Throw in the macadamia nut, avocado, apricot kernel, jojoba and coconut oils, and you can kiss any chance of dry hands goodbye.

While this product absorbs almost completely, it still feels a bit concentrated for daytime use. I prefer to slather it on at night, drift off to sleep with visions of petit fours dancing in my head, and awake to super-soft mits.

ReVive Masques Des Yeux

A good night's sleep only goes so far for keeping eye wrinkles and bags at bay--but ReVive Masques Des Yeux picks up where the Sandman leaves off.

This weekly cream eye mask is formulated with probiotics to promote cellular respiration and metabolism and to banish puffiness. Hyaluronic Filling Spheres plump and firm the skin by delivering intense hydration and boosting collagen production.

After a sleepover session with this mask, I awake to find my eye area looking smooth, taut and dewy. Fine lines are plumped into oblivion, and I can't get enough of how deeply hydrated the area feels in the a.m.

This may call for some emergency naps!

MAC Paint Pots

You know the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears? One porridge was too hot, one was too cold, and the other was just right? That's how I feel about MAC Shadesticks, Paints and Paint Pots--my arsenal of eyeshadow primers.

Don't get me wrong; Shadesticks and Paints are good, but the Paint Pots are better. Shadesticks are super fast and easy to use, but can be a little dry and don't hold up quite as long as Paints. Paints--well you could run a marathon and your eyeshadow wouldn't budge, but the squeeze tube is messy and wastes product.

But Paint Pots? Perfection. The creamy texture goes on so smooth, priming the lids superbly for powder eyeshadow. For hours, eye makeup stays firmly in place, nary a crease to be seen. Plus, they're completely user-friendly: a dab in the pot, a pat over the lids, and voila!

My two must-have shades are Soft Ochre, a deliciously creamy yellow beige, and Bare Study, a shimmering golden-pink peach.

Hermes Kelly Caleche Eau de Toilette

Yes! Yes! Yes! Kelly Caleche Eau de Toilette by Hermes is just what I've been searching for!

My collection of mostly spicy oriental fragrances was missing something more day, something more Spring. It needed to be a fragrance that was still complex and interesting, and could hold its own among the greats--Black Orchid and Allure Sensuelle.

Kelly Caleche is all that and more. The leathery influence gives this floral a sexy edge. Its sheer redolence still has a powerful presence on the skin. The longevity of the fragrance affords ample opportunity for all beautiful notes to blossom.

This fragrance has top notes of Lily of the Valley, Narcissus, Rose and Iris, middle notes of Climbing Rose, Mimosa and Tuberose, and base notes of Iris, Woodsy and Leather Accord.

Love Her Look: Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell looks like a makeup hero, popping with color and sparkle, while still looking fresh and light!

To get started, even out skin tone but keep it looking natural by smoothing on a tinted moisturizer. Check out Trish McEvoy Protective Shield Tinted Moisturizer. Lightly sweep on a loose powder to keep shine in check, like Hourglass Veil Invisible Powder.

Just a hint of color is enough for the cheeks--try a flesh-toned blush like Cargo Blush in Molokai on the apples of the cheeks.

Prep eyes with a neutral toned primer--MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre is perfect. Then, press on a shimmering gold onto the lids, like Bare Minerals Glimmer in True Gold, tracing the powder around to the inner corner of the eyes and beneath the lower lashes. Create depth by brushing on a warm, mid-tone matte brown eyeshadow into the crease, such as Laura Mercier Eye Colour in Whisky. Line the upper lashes with your favorite black liquid liner. Finish the eyes with a black lengthening mascara, like L'Oreal Lash Out.

Crimson, moist lipstick like Clinique Color Surge Lipstick in Sassy Spice looks light and bright, and ties the look together. Now this a look people will be gossiping about--in a good way!

Smashbox Soft Lights in Prism

My nickname at work is Barbie (I totally embrace it), so to say that the MAC Loves Barbie Collection rocked my world--well, you know I mean it. Pearl Blossom Beauty Powder (pictured bottom left) has been in heavy rotation ever since its debut last February in the limited edition collection, but once the bottom of the pan started showing, panic ensued.

Until I found Smashbox Soft Lights in Prism, a perfect clone to my beloved. This silky, shimmering powder doesn't translate on the face as overly-pink. The color that shows up can only be described as magic.

Granted, I'm a huge believer in the power of highlighters, but the pink powder does something a little more kittenish, a little more girly than standard shimmery beige highlighter. In short, I cannot live without it.

Another beauty crisis averted. Phew!
